List of ‘Smart Cities’-Short-Listed under ‘Smart Cities Mission’ of the Union Government of India

Under the ‘Smart Cities Mission’,launched by  the Union Government of India it has been planned to develop  many potential cities and towns in all the 30 States and the 6 Union Territories in India into ‘Smart Cities’ with the following ‘Core Infrastructure Elements’:

  •     Adequate water supply,
  •     Assured electricity supply,
  •     Sanitation, including solid waste management,
  •     Efficient urban mobility and public transport,
  •     Affordable housing, especially for the poor,
  •     Robust IT connectivity and digitization,
  •     Good governance, especially e-Governance and citizen participation,
  •     Sustainable environment,
  •     Safety and security of citizens, particularly women, children and the elderly and
  •     Health and education.
