Complete List of “PADMA VIBHUSHAN” Awardees-2016

Ms. YAMINI KRISHNAMURTHI,   a 75 years old, unmarried Indian Dancer of ‘Bharatha Naattiyam’ and ‘Kuchipudi’ Dances of Delhi, has been conferred on with the  ‘Padma Vibhushan Award’ in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Art- Classical Dance’.

Ms.Yamini Krishnamurthi has been the ‘Aashthana Narthaki’ / ‘Resident Dancer’ of the ‘Thirumal Thirpathi Devasthanam’ / TTD.

Ms. Yamini has been imparting dance lessons to young dancers in her ‘Yamini School of Dances’ at Hauz Khas in Delhi.

According to Ms.Yamini, all her disciples in dance are her children.

Ms.Yamini was conferred on with the ‘Padma Sri’ Award in the year 1968 and the ‘Padma Bhushan Award’ in the year 2001.

Mr.RAJINIKANTH, a 65 years old, ‘Super-Star of Tamil Cinema’ of Tamil Nadu has been conferred on with the  ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Award in the year 2016, under the’ Category: Art-Cinema’.

‘Super Star’-Rajinikanth  has acted in about 170 Movies, mostly in Tamil Movies and also  in the  movies of various languages, such as: Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.

Mr.Rajinikanth’s movies have been motivational and inspiring, highlighting the importance of honesty, hard work, belief in men and ‘God’ and helping the needy people.

Mr.Rajinikanth’s movies have become popular in South India, the entire India and also in other countries.

Mr. Rajinikanth has been a strong believer of ‘Hinduism’ and ‘Spirituality’ and a devotee of Swamy Raghavendra.Mr.Rajinikanth has been undertaking many philanthropic activities without publicity, and he has been spending a major portion of his income on charities.

Mr.Rajinikanth has been supporting ‘Anti-Corruption Movements’, such as ‘India Against Corruption’ of  ‘Anna Hazare’.

3  /  Ms..GIRIJA DEVI, a 86 years old Indian Classical Singer of West Bengal, considered as the ‘Queen of Thumri’  has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Award in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Art-Classical -Vocal’.Ms.Girija Devi was conferred on with the ‘Padma Sti’ Award in the year 1972 and the ‘Padma Bhushan’ Award in the year 1989.

4 / Mr.RAMOJI RAO, a 79 years old  Indian- ‘Businessman’, ‘Film Producer’, ‘Educationist’, ‘Journalist’ and ‘Media Entrepreneur’ of Andhra Pradesh,has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Award in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Literature & Education- Journalism’.

Mr. Ramoji Rao is the founder of the ‘Ramoji Group’, owning many organizations, including:  the world’s largest ‘Film Production City’-‘Ramoji Rao Film City’ established at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh,the ‘Margadarsi Chit Funds’, ‘Eenadu Newspaper’, ‘ETV’, ‘Priya Food’s, ‘Ushakiran Movies’ and the ‘Dolphin Group of Hotels’.

5 /  Dr.VISWANATHAN SHANTA, a 88 years old ‘Cancer Specialist’ of Tamil Nadu has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Award in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Medicine-Oncology’.

Dr.V.Shanta is the present ‘Chair Person’ of the ‘Adyar Cancer Institute’, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, established by Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy in the year 1954.

Dr. V.Shanta is a relative of the Indian Nobel Prize Winners: Sir C.V. Raman and Dr. S. Chandrasekar.

Dr.V.Shanta, has been striving hard to ensure that the ‘Adyar Cancer Institute’ remains true to its ethos: ‘Service to All’, in an era when specialized medical care in India has become highly commercialized.

Dr.V.Shanta has been enabling ‘Free’ /’Subsidized’ medical care to about 60 % of the about 1 Lakh of  patients of the ‘Adyar Cancer Institute’, every year.

It is notable that Dr.V.Shanta has been seeing the patients, performing surgeries and has been on 24 hours a day call on duty, even at this old age.

Dr.V.Shanta was conferred on with  the ‘Padma Sri Award’ in the year 1986 and the ‘Padma Bhushan Award’ in the year 2005.

6  /  Sri Sri RAVI SHANKAR, a 59 years old Indian Spiritual Guru of Bangalore, Karnataka has been conferred on with the  ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Award in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Others-Spiritualism.’

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar established ‘Art of Living’, a ‘Non Governmental Organization’ at Bangalore in the year 1981, which has been operating in 152 countries, aiming to relieve the individuals from ‘Stress’, ‘Social Problems’ and Violence.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar established in the year 1997, the ‘International Association for Human Values’, a Geneva-based Charity for engaging in ‘Relief Work & Rural Development’, with the aims to foster ‘Global Values’.

7 /  Mr.JAGMOHAN, a 88 years old  ‘Former  Lieutenant Governor Delhi, Goa’ and ‘Former Governor of Jammu&Kashmir’ of  Delhi has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan Award’ in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Public Affairs’.

Mr.Jagmohan, as the ‘Vice Chairman’ of the ‘Delhi Development Authority’, had formulated and implemented the ‘Delhi Master Plan’ and executed various ‘Parliament- Approved Schemes of Clearance-cum – Resettlement – cum – Redevelopment Schemes’, related to ‘Land Acquisition and Development’.

For his series of innovations, good management skills and his meritorious services to India,Mr.Jagmohan was conferred on with the ‘Padma Sri’ Award in the year 1971 and with the ‘Padma Bhushan’ Award in the year 1977.

8 / Dr.VASUDEV KALKUNTE AATRE, a 76 years old  Indian Scientist of Karnataka and the Former Head of the Indian ‘Defence Research and Development Organisation’/DRDO, has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan Award’ in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Science & Engineering’.

Dr.Vasudev Kalkunte Aatre had been the ‘Scientific Advisor’ to the Indian Union ‘Defence Minister’.

Dr.V.K.Aatre was conferred on with the ‘Padma Bhushan Award’ in the year 2000.

9 /  Mr. AVINASH DIXIT, a 71 years old Mumbai born, Indian-American Economist, resident of USA,  has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Award in the year 2016, under the’ Category: Literature & Education’.

10 /   (Late) Mr. DHIRUBHAI AMBANI, of Mumbai, Maharashtra, ‘Born on 28th  December 1932 and Expired on 6th  July 2002’, at the Age of 69 years, has been conferred on with the ‘Padma Vibhushan Award’-Posthumously, in the year 2016, under the ‘Category: Trade & Industry’.

Mr.Dhirubhai Ambani is the founder of the ‘Reliance Groups of Companies’.
