Will Supreme Court of India settle the dispute between the Ambani Brothers?

After the demise of Mr.Dhirubhai Ambani the founder of the Ambani group, his sons Mr.Mukesh Ambani and Mr.Anil Ambani have taken over the various businesses/dream projects of their father .

However, there has been a rift between the two brothers and there are many litigations in various areas:-

  • Oil and Gas
  • Retail Business
  • Telecoms
  • Entertainments
  • Financial services
  • Infrastructure

In one of the disputes between the Billionaire-brothers, a case between:-

  • Reliance Industries of Mukesh
  • Reliance Natural Resources of Anil

is coming up in Supreme Court of India on 20th October 2009 for hearing. The case over a gas pricing in a sale of gas to RNRL at below market rate as per family settlement.

The two Ambani brothers recently hosted their mother’s 75th birthday party and it appeared that the two brothers would amicably solve the disputes between them, because of their mother.

Also,Mr.Anil Ambani surprisingly and unexpectedly offered to reconcile with his elder brother Mr.Mukesh and resolve their differences and told that he was having love and respect for his elder brother and he would fulfill his mother’s wish and get the issues settled. However, “Reliance Industries” has argued the row goes beyond a mere family squabble.

As the disputes between the two business wings of the brothers seem to be out of their family level settlements and the case in the country’s apex court on the gas issue will be inevitable, only the Supreme Court of India should pave ways for amicable/legitimate settlements in the issue/s between the two business groups of the same family of Ambanis.
