Indian Economist Dr. Siddharth Tiwari has been named as the “Secretary of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)” by its Managing Director Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn.Dr. Tiwari is at present the ‘Director of the Office of Budget & Planning- IMF’. Mr. Shailendra Anjaria had been the Secretary of IMF and he retired from IMF earlier this year.As the the Secretary of IMF Mr. Tiwari will play a role which involves active work with the International Monetary Fund’s Executive Board and its daily interactions with Management and staff.Dr.Tiwari, with more than 20-years career at the IMF, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Delhi and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the “London School of Economics”, and a “Doctorate in economics” from the University of Chicago.
It is a pride to India, that a young Indian has been appointed to a key post in the “International Monetary Fund”.
