In 100 grams of pure lime juice the major ingredients are:-

  • Water 90.79 grams
  • Carbohydrates 8.42 grams
  • Vitamin A 50mg
  • Vitamin C 30mg
  • Potassium 117 mg
  • Calcium 14 mg
  • Phosphorus 14 mg
  • Magnesium 8 mg
  • Sodium 2 mg
  • Cholesterol Nil
  • Fat Nil

Apart from the above, Vitamin B 6, Vitamin E and Vitamin K are present in less quantities. Manganese and Zinc are present in very less quantities. There is no Cholesterol, Fat and Folic acid in lime juice.

As lime juice is having antiseptic, antioxidant and antibacterial qualities, it will cleanse the digestive system and prevent many diseases such as, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Heart Disease and Cancer.

There is a common belief that, because of Vitamin C content, drinking lime juice will help in weight reduction. But there is no scientific proof for the Vitamin C’s role in weight reduction. If pure lime juice is diluted it will become a low calorie drink. By drinking lime juice, more often, in moderate quantities, in between meals, you can avoid overeating.
