List of Ministers in Dr.Manmohan Singh’s Cabinet After Reshuffle in January 2011

United Progressive Alliance (UPA), under the Chairmanship of the President of the Indian National Congress, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi was re-elected to power in May 2009. Dr.Manmohan Singh formed his ‘Cabinet of Ministers’ which took oath on 22nd/28th May 2009. After 20 months, Dr.Manmohan Singh has made a reshuffle in his cabinet on 19th January 2011. As mentioned by the Prime Minister, it is only a ‘minor reshuffle’. Obviously, Dr.Singh is having plans for a ‘major reshuffle’ after the Budget-Session of the Parliament.

The highlights of the present minor reshuffle in brief are that:-

  • Three new persons have been introduced into the cabinet of Ministers.
  • And five existing ministers have been elevated.
  • And there is some shufflings made in the previous ministers/portfolios.
  • None of the ministers in the previous cabinet has been dropped.
  • The Top 4 Ministers/Portfolios( Finance, Home, External Affairs and Defence) are unchanged
