World Tamil Meet at Coimbatore Postponed

The proposed “World Tamil Meet” at Coimbatore in January 2010 has been postponed to June end or July beginning, to enable Tamil Scholars from all over the world participate in the Meet with their works on Tamil and for planning their travel and stay during the Meet.

A Committee headed by the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Mr.M.Karunanidhi which reviewed the preparations for the World Tamil Meet, took a decision to postpone the Meet.

It is notable that the Opposition parties are questioning the timing of the Meet and the right of the State Government to organize the Meet, without approval of the International Association of Tamil Research (IATR).
